Casting Call

Casting CAll...

Picture
Often when my mind wanders I like to imagine that I'm a casting director finding a cast for a movie of my novels. Chloe Grace Moretz would make a great Kayla in BAR CODE TATTOO, though maybe she's getting too old for the part. Still, she's bold and smart. How about Rihanna as Mimi in DISTANT WAVES? She's beautiful and seems like a serious person. I see Selena Gomez as Samantha in HAUNTED MUSEUM: The Titanic Locket. Lively and curious.  Or Harry Styles as Jack in WATER SONG? Cute and playful.

Who would you cast as my book characters if you were the director?

Let me know your choices!!!

I always thought Rachel Evan Wood would make a good Kayla. She might me a touch too old now for the role, but when the books first came out it would have been perfect!

I think that's a good pick, Diana. She's intelligent and strong. And there's something "out of the box" about her. I've always felt that Barack Obama would be a perfect Mfumbe but I created the character before he came on the scene. Of course he's way too old, but young Barack would have been good.

If Distant Waves were to become a movie (which would be absolutely incredible!) I would hope for Jane to be an undiscovered actress. No famous celebrity seems to come to mind when I picture her. I think her most important features would have to be a youthful, delicate look and brown hair (Perhaps similar to a brunette Lily James or Emma Watson). Of course, she would also have to have a curious and strong willed personality. I also think Gugu Mbatha-Raw would play a good Mimi, though Rihanna would do perfectly as well :) As for Thad, well let's just say I would have high expectations for that handsome guy! Jeremy Irvine would do wonderfully with his dark hair and gorgeous blue eyes!

Hi Francesca Maria! Wouldn't DISTANT WAVES be a great movie!? Glad you can see it. I can envision it perfectly. I can picture it as a mini-series, too. Gugu Mbatha-Raw is an inspired choice for Mimi. She has that delicacy and great beauty of Mimi. She's thirty-two now, though. She'd have to work on her American accent since she's a Brit. What do Jeremy Irvine. But he'd be PERFECT as Thad. He has just the right look. Emma Watson as Hermione was certainly strong-willed. Maybe she's too old for the role now. Hmmm!
Thanks for your suggestions!

Dear Suzanne Weyn you are my favorite author ever I love your wildwood stables books. I'm not done reading them I'm only on the fifth one but I hope I can finish them because they are really good. Also I hope I can send you the pictures I drew of the wildwood stables there is Prince Albert and pixie they are really cool to me because they are the best ones I ever made. So I got a few questions when you revise is it hard for you and also I write books like you and I have trouble at the end to make it sound good but to me it doesn't. If I could meet you sometime I wish that you will help me with me books I think the would be really fun. I going to tell you some books I wrote they are not up to read yet but I hope I can get them up to read there is, The Village, and The Ender Fight, they are minecraft books that I wrote it is minecraft so if you do not know what minecraft is it is a game where you learn how to build and play with friends and to get along with them. I'm sorry if I'm writing to much is because you are my favorite author ever. And I want to learn more about you and I also want to be friends with you. I got more questions of revision is it easy to you but to me it's hard and also why I'm talking to much is the I have hardly any friends and I want someone to talk to now and then if that's ok with you. If I could get my stories tiped out I can send them to you and they are sad stories. I have not cried yet but when I re-read them I might cry but I have not yet. I might look into another kind of series that you have worte. Well I think I have wrote enough if you can write back that will be great thank you for listening!

Hi Ashleigh! You probably forgot you ever wrote to me but I just saw your note. Thanks so much. Wildwood Stables is based on my daughter Diana's true struggles to keep a horse she rescued. The girl on the cover even looks like her. Your more than a year older now. I hope you keep reading my books. And my apologies for taking so long to reply. ❤

Hi Rachel. Thanks for your good words about Distant Waves. I was thinking about the Titanic and all the lives lost and I decided I'd like to write about it. When I'm writing something historical I next ask myself what else was happening. I remembered that spiritualism was popular then. I mentioned it to a friend and told me about a real town called Lillydale in western New York which is populated with only psychics. The story took off from there. Of all the novels I've written this one most seemed to write itself. I'm so happy that you liked it. It's one that's dearest to heart. ❤
